As many of you know, Sue Dostal has coordinated Seabrook Island's participation in the annual Sea Island Habitat for Humanity Women's Build for several years. This year Sue has handed the baton to me!
The Sea Island Habitat for Humanity Women's Build is an annual event where a group of women from the community comes together for a week to build a home for one of the Habitat homeowners.
This year the homeowners we are building for are Alejandra and Fernando on Wadmalaw Island. When asked what this project will mean to them, Alejandra said "This Habitat house will mean we have a place to call home - a place we can grow our family once we begin to have children."
Habitat has changed things up a bit this year. They have asked groups to set up a 'fundraising' page. It gives each of us an option to simply donate money, or sign up to volunteer during the build. I have set a modest goal of $250 but I'm sure Seabrook Island can beat that!
